White label payment mobile app

Hyperwallet needed a special brand agnostic payment for their very sophisticated back end payment and payee back end technology. I designed the whole look and feel including both UX and UI for both native mobile iOS and Android apps. I had a great PM on this project that was critical to understand some of the more tricky aspects of international banking and transfer functions.

Major design challenge was to provide a branded and non-branded design for thousands of partners to receive and transfer funds all around the world. Leveraging the power of the devices technology we were able to design a simple TouchID and FaceID login to smooth out the repeat sign in process. Also paid close attention to the many list views and iconography that made the system a very concise and easy to use experience designed for daily use. Extensive use of Sketch was used to create this design.

User problem/objective

To create a whole new innovative mobile app to present an elegant seamless 4-5 screen solution. Including an innovative painless login and set up process. Elegant list views and simple navigation. A big challenge here was to figure out how to how to take >20 individual branded apps and create a back-end system to automatically ‘brand’ a white label application for both major app stores while have them also easily update-able for infinite growth or scalable.

My personal course of action

Was to first understand the back-end system limitations and how to provide a first-run experience that let’s the user understand this payment system is related to their specific brand they are trying to get paid or pay into. In this case above it was for an Amazon specific vendor to pay and transfer funds to specific vendors and also to manage payments to various clients all around the world in three basic methods. PayPal, Debit Card, Bank Accounts. Once I understood how the back-end system worked I started with low-fidelity wireframes to build out a comprehensive interaction then refined the design adding a few wow functions and controls.

Results/project outcome

Client extremely excited about excellent use of using national flags and use of font/colors that match certain brands while giving clear direction to developers and clients as to what can be branded and what should be kept standard as per device brand. Product still in development but initial user testing proved very positive reaction and we received full corporate wide approval, including other in—house design teams.
